Using a GPS watch on the course really is a helpful way for you to start improving your score and work on getting that handicap cut down. Those of you that may be sceptical about how much use you will get from the watch should definitely continue reading, as I am going to explain why I believe you will see improvements in your golf game. If you just want to know the basics, then feel free to scroll down to the pros and cons of this GPS watch.
Is this watch suitable for you?
While some of you may see this as a silly question, some really do need assurance that this watch will be worthwhile to them. The simple answer is, however you play, or however good you’re at golf will not determine whether you should own a GPS watch. It can become a challenge always remembering what hazards to look out for and what club you should be using so I’d recommend this to any golfer out there!
Ease of use (TomTom Golf Watch Instructions):
The watch will require you to set a few things up, which for the most part are actually away from the watch itself. What I mean by that is that you will need to set up a TomTom MySports connect account to really get the watches full potential. Having a MySports connect account will allow you to receive regular updates on thousands of courses and also help to provide extra details such as the number of calories you burnt in a round of golf. Once you have an account set up for that, you can start to go through and alter the settings on the watch to your preference. You can check out a video posted by TomTom themselves that may help with this:

Charging the watch – The watch will not come with a plug attached and will require you to charge via a computer or another device that allows charging from a USB port. This shouldn’t be an issue for most of you, but be sure to keep the charger in a safe place.
Shot tracking – Shot tracking, in my opinion, is a great feature to have when on the course. It helps you to identify how far you are hitting the ball, which can benefit you in terms of club choice. It’s also a nice feeling when you hit a clean strike down the fairway and it’s nothing but yardage!
Identifying Hazards – This feature made me very happy and actually kind of excited. I know I’m not the only one who finds himself in the hazards more often than I should and often it’s because I’m not identifying where they are. With this feature, you can identify how far you are away from a hazard, so you can choose to play a smart shot around it.

My overall conclusion of this TomTom Golf watch is that it’s a great resource to have on the course. I can assure you that it will not be short of use and will be used to your advantage each and every time you play. Now, I’m not going to say it’s the best golf GPS watch out there at the moment because everyone has their own preference. But, the value you get for your money and the many great features that come with this Golf watch really do make it a strong competitor.
